Primary Purpose:

Assist in the direction and management of the academic instructional programs.

To provide teachers training necessary to meet state and district instructional goals. 

Provide and assist campus principal with instructional interventions to support all students in becoming college and career ready.

Maintain accurate records as required to support federal funding. 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Valid Texas teacher certification

Master’s degree preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction methods across all content areas

Develop objectives and instructional materials which integrate best teaching practices into classroom instruction.

Establish cooperative, working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.

Function as a model teacher and/or coach for content-area teachers.

Strong organizational, communication, public relations and interpersonal skills

 

Experience:

Five years’ experience as a successful classroom teacher.

Experience as a department head or supervisor preferred.

Experience as an instructional coach preferred.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Instructional and Program Management

 

  • Trains and supports the implementation and coordination of campus instructional programs as assigned.

Trains and supports teachers in instructional planning, classroom management procedures, record keeping, and diagnostic procedures.

  • Trains and supports new and/or inexperienced teachers in the initial set-up of their classrooms, lesson plan books, grade books, etc.
  • Serves as a catalyst for innovation within the school, including use of technology for delivery of instruction.
  • Assists campus administration in directing, sequencing and implementing instructional programs.
  • Assists campus administration in the design and implementation of staff development opportunities which integrate best teaching practices into the curricula.
  • Use student achievement data to recommend improvement in the purpose, design, materials, and implementation of the instructional program. 
  • Identifies appropriate academic student services for all students and ensures that the appropriate services are monitored and delivered.

Support classroom teachers in finding and securing standards based resources, materials and/or programs that improve instruction. 

  • Work cooperatively with directors and campus principals in developing and supervising the instructional programs in academic areas.

Collaborates with teachers, department heads, GLC’s and other appropriate staff in meeting instructional goals, objectives and standards to ensure that at-risk student have the opportunity to reach optimum performance. (such as at-risk, RtI, GIST, PLC, and DDR)

 

Collaborates in the ordering and use of departmental instructional aids and materials for academic areas. 

  • Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness for all-academic areas. 
  • Monitor instructional processes to ensure that program activities are related to outcomes recommended by the academic departments. 
  • Assist campus administrators with the campus instructional programs. 
  • Promote the use of technology in the teaching/learning process.

 Apply research and data to improve the content, sequence and outcomes of the teaching-learning

                    process. (For example:  Look – Fors, Quick Checks, and COTS)

  • Facilitate analysis of student performance on assigned campus.

 Perform classroom visitations.
